Praying for Texas

 I am so gutted by the news coming from Kerrville, Ingram and Hunt. I keep just refreshing the news hoping for a miracle for those little girls and all the other people missing or found dead. It is incomprehensible.  It is still raining where I am, but we are away from any creeks or water. 

I have been meaning to report on my experience on social media. Now seems about a good a time as any since I am glued to the laptop as I search for news. It has been interesting for certain. It is fun to be connected to people far and wide who love animals, roses and books and who are deeply Christian. I thought it would  be all politics and hate and liberals. I would say that most of the accounts on there are libs. But I have been surprised that although they seem angry, they aren't very hateful or ugly. So there is that. I also have to say that the ugliness seems to be more so from my fellow conservatives. The crudeness and the violence expressed is quite scary whoever is saying it. I am told some of those accounts are not actual people but "bots" . I hope it is true. It makes me sad that there would be actual people saying some of those things, no matter if Conservatives or libs. I made one comment about "the libtards" and immediately felt bad. That is not the kind of person I imagine myself to be.

I also have noticed that there is a lot of information posted on there that we just aren't seeing from our usual news. I watch mainly Fox because I think it is the most reliable. I am not one to get my news from some of the less established places. However, we are not seeing SO MUCH.

I was particularly amazed at how the budget bill has been covered by Conservatives. We get told "no taxes on tips" "no taxes on overtime" and "no taxes on social security" and that medicaid won't be touched. Well, there is some fine print about all of that that I got pointed to.  This budget bill now seems very very bad to me. Our rural hospitals will shut down and nursing homes. Now, Medicaid isn't being affected just yet. The cuts will come in 2026 after the next elections. So it won't seem that bad now. But it is bad.

I also don't like the fact that we are giving money to people who don't need it. I don't like the huge increase to our nation's debt. I called Chip Roy's office to tell him to stay strong and vote no. I am very angry that he folded like a wet napkin. It you live around me and Kerrie, just be aware that he is a play-pretend guy. He makes a big noise about the debt and deficit and then next thing you know, he just goes along to get along. He isn't going to stand strong for his constituents.

I am also worried about the education cuts. Texas is sending so much of our school money to vouchers and leaving public schools to dry up and blow away. When our schools die, our communities die. Some of our towns only exist because of the salaries and money from the schools. 

I am also not liking what I see on Bluesky about ICE. I don't want criminals in my country. PERIOD. Biden let too many in. I don't think that means we need to zip tie children at their immigration hearing. I don't think that means pushing a 16 year old to the ground and hitting her head on the pavement. There are a lot of hardworking illegals here in Central Texas. They are our roofers and construction guys. They take care of our elderly. They have been here for years. They are good God-fearing people. Once time my truck had a flat out by the dump and an illegal came and changed my tire in the hot sun and wouldn't let me pay him a cent. They buy food and supplies at our local stores. They are part of our community and we don't need to send 20 guys in combat gear and military guns to detain them at Lowes. I am also worried about the reports of US citizens being rounded up and held. 

I feel like my eyes are opening up a little and I am seeing things that I didn't know about. 

Oh, and another thing I am getting my eyes opened to is President Trump's connections to Jeffrey Epstein. There are reports that some of the girls were actually recruited at Mar a Lago! There are tapes of President Trump dancing and laughing with that monster. Lots of photos of Mr, Trump and Melania with that Maxwell lady.  There are depositions of victims naming him. Why don't they release the files and put all the rumors to bed?!? This is something we need to know. I have supported President Trump with my whole being since he won in 2016, but if there is any evidence he was involved in that man's evil acts, WE NEED TO KNOW.

There are a lot of things that worry me about him right now. I will continue to keep my eyes and ears open and my mind open. I teach math. Numbers don't lie so we build on our knowledge with LOGIC and FACTS. We can't just go on what we want to believe, even if it feels good. Even if everyone around us believes.

Finally, please also keep Kerrie and her husband in your hearts. She won't mention it, but she hasn't posted much because a while back he got some kind of urinary infection that turned into sepsis that then had infected his heart. He could have died!! They did heart surgery and he has come out of that ok and is now recovering. It has been a hard time for the family. However, God has been merciful and spared him. We are grateful.
